If I configured it from the factory with a single HDD will my m17x come with the hardware to add another HDD? or will i have to buy another caddy and adapter like my vostro 1700/inspiron 1720? Thanks!

You only have to contact them if it's missing. Even if you order with 1 HDD it's supposed to be there with a piece of foam that holds 4 screws and the SATA interposer.

My new system came today, I only had one harddrive but they did include the second caddy, the screws and the interposer if yours doesn't come with it call them and they will send you one.
