To anyone who has the 3d screen and non 3d screen, can you please speak on how long your battery last when under NORMAL USAGE. This means internet browing, word usage, youtube, etc....

Also comment on how long it lasts during movies too please.

No need to talk about how it lasts during gaming as mine will always be plugged in when gaming

    thanks

    Hi,

I don't have my system yet, but I ordered the R4 with the 120Hz 3D bundle. Members here have claimed you get about 3 hours of light use (i.e. browsing the web, checking your email, etc.) and about half of that doing anything demanding of the CPU / GPU. With the 60Hz screen, I've been told you get about 4-5 hours of light use, and about 2-3 hours of anything demanding.

Hope that helps you get an idea! I will confirm this once my system arrives.

Well the 120hz screen will always ve on the Nvidia GPU, were as the 60hz laptop will have the ability to switch either manually or automatically to the intergrated gpu, giving longer battery life.

On my R3, when I used the igpu, id say 4 hours was an average discharge when watching a film, depending on brightness.

Browsing, maybe 5 at a push.

Is your laptop the 120hz screen or not? I know the reason why the 3d screen is less because it can't use optimus I want to find out how much less. I don't care about gaming time as I already said because all laptops should be plugged in during gaming. I am only innterested in how long each of them are with light use. If its 30 minutes I dont care. If its 2 hours then the 3d screen better be a NIGHT AND DAY difference between the 60hz one.

i have never actually calculated the time while on battery.

according to the battery drain, using the power saver settings, i can stretch my usage to less than 3 or max 3.5h(web, documents, giving presentations etc)

if watching movies or other light tasks, i can max it out to 2-2.5h or maybe less depending on brightness, speakers/headphones, wifi on/off

other moderately heavy tasks, while on battery, kill it at about 1.5h max or maybe 1h

the gpu automatically downclocks to 135mhz core, while on powersaver, and the cpu goes down to 12x

Well if light usage is around 3-3.5 hours (since I think watching youtube and movies online use up less battery than say a DVD or blue ray) and the non 3d is around 4-4.5 hours then that is not so bad. I give up 1 hour of battery life for a better screen. Not so bad of a trade off.
