Hi guys!
I ordered another video-card from a guy on the forums, what i forgot to remember is that the second video-card also needs a fanD )
So, i've checked the forum a bit, and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what side the secondary fan is sitting on? Because, if you sit on the laptop like you would sit when you use it, its the right graphics card that is the secondary, whilst if you twist it with the back facing towards you, it would be the left.
So, is the secondary fan the left one?
Also, would this fan work on my R1 system? (Found it through the forum)
AVC BATA0812R5H Cooling Fan
Does anybody know about another website which sells theese fans and ship them out quickly? Please help me! (Live in Europe, Norway.)
Cheers.
Also, is there any screws needed for the secondary graphics card that i would have to order?
I've contacted Dell twice about ordering the screws and the secondary fan, but i've never recieved the confirmation email, so now i'm mad and looking for an alternate way to get the system up and running.

Yeah, that's the one you need!
Also you need two screws for your card.
You do have the heatsink, right? -
Yes. The Heatsink was included.
Screws? Where could i get those? Does anyone have the measurements for those screws, so that i could get them from a local hardware-store or something?

Just take one screw that holds your primary video card in place and look for two more.
I may have them in my screws jar, i'll have to take a look when i get home.

Is that a bad pricing?
For me it seems legit, Dell wanted similiar prices for theirse..

By the way, is there any other webpage that sells this fan? (Except ebay, i guess they won't have any express delivery?)
Also, does this fan come with the screws that is needed to assemble it?

The screws are held with C clips on the fan and they are three. You might want to ask them just in case.
There are a few on ebay but it's up to you.
M17x fan | eBay
I bought a pair of spare ones from Dell a while back too.
EDIT: sorry, i just saw you said no ebay, lol. Other sites i know sell them for way above that price. -
Could you please link me to that page, please?
Price is not an issue right now, but the shipping time is

I see that they don't have any in stock
PcHub can do DHL Express but the shipping price is more than the fan -
Yeah, but PChub is singapore.. i don't think their DHL shipping is any-near as fast as it sais it should be. (3-5 days)
Any shopping experiences from there, anyone?

I bought parts from them over the years but always went with the cheap shipping so i can't tell you how fast they are.
To know if the M17x fan you found is the left or right side one you'll have to look for the P001 or P002 mention under the model number (that is the same for both by the way).
P001 - right side of the laptop/primary card (so your left as you look at it when you type)
P002 - you guessed it, left side of the laptop/secondary card (so your right as you look at it when you type)
Also there are the Delta models that were used in the M17x and M17x R2, the one you need is this Delta Electronics KSB0705HA-8J02 Cooling Fan
For some reason shipping is cheaper. -
Thanks for the information,
Katalin!
I went with the singapore one and the DHL shipping..
I just sincerely hope that it arrives here before BF3 on the 27th.
If the fan doesent get here in time, is there any way to be able to play the game with both the new cards that i ordered, where one of them wouldn't have the fan for it? (Placing like a regular table-fan besides the computer on the side that there will not be any fan?) (Both have the heat-sink)
(Dual 5870's)
Any tip on that aswell?

Lol, you're really up to anything for that game aren't you
I don't recommend running it without a fan as it will probably give you less performance instead of more since it will heat up.
An external fan won't help much either under load.
Just play the game with one card until the fan arrives,i don't think is worth killing it especially now that you just bought it.
If i knew you wanted it before that date i could've sent you my spare one since i'm not using it.. -
Yeah, thats what i saw as an last-resort, But i don't think one HD 5870 will be able to run that game even on low with a good FPS (50-60), or..?
I was thinking about trying to squeese in an USB fan somehow, but i guess it wont fit at all, because of its size..
An good Laptop-chillmat, would that maby be able to do the trick? (If i place it directly under the spot where the secondary card is located?)
I mean, my single GTX260m does just about 80c* on load with the stock fan.
Haha -My bad, i should have mentioned.. :L

I modded my NZXT Cryo LX with 3 powerful (high CFM) fans, i tried running a game with the laptop fans out and only with the NZXT on full on my R2 just for testing purposes and results were good but not as good as the laptop with its own fans plus the cooler.
Just wait for the fan to install the secondary card, BF3 won't be the only game you'll want to play and you don't want to be sorry to kill your card just for a game and a few days waiting on a fan
