    I wish I could. Through dells trade up program i would only get 209 dollars for my $1800 system thats 1.5 years old. pooh

    You can sell it for a lot more than that. Or you can upgrade it,it's a capable system.

    No it's not. Your motherboard uses a socket P (478) and the max you can go is a QX9300 which is a beast of CPU combined with throttlestop.
    The m17x R2 uses a different motherboard.

    Ah yes thats what i thought. I build desktops. I guess i'll look for a place to buy a QX9300. they must be getting somewhat rare since they are not in production anymore. My laptop needs a quad core badly for bfbc2.

    The qx is too pricey. one day i might snag a q9000 for my lappy

    Depends how you find it. Or you can get a ES/QS 9200/9400 some guys here got some good numbers out of them too. . .
    And the Q9000 is not a extreme CPU but can be OCed to stable 2400Mhz but i doubt it'll do wonders compared to what you currently have.
    scook9 here on the forum has one Q9000 for sale if you want one.

    I'll be playing bfbc2 and bf3 when it comes out and starcraft 2. Both of which take advantage of multi core. hmm that is very interesting
