m17x R1 not making it to post

hi, having a bit of trouble with my m17x r1.
last night it was working perfectly fine. im not sure, but there may have been a windows update (cant really remember).
tried to start it up today and get not much. fans come on for a few seconds then turn off. the lights on the keyboard, speakers and alien heads all stay on. no caps or num lock lights on at all.
nothing at all happebs on the screen. no alien head no flashing curser, nothing.
tried all combinations of battery n charger, tried taking out ram and re installing.
ive got no clue what to do now... help! please

 

have you tried to remove your cmos battery. Also can you connect the laptop to another screen to see if its an :LCD issue. ANY BIOS BEEPS???

Sounds to me like you bricked your system going off your info WE CAN FIX THIS DONT WORRY.

 

You could try to remove the HDDs and see if it gives any LED code combination.

If you get blinking LED's (Caps, num or scroll) check the link above for further info on what the error means.

 

have tried without the cmos battery, without the hdds or ram, and still get the same thing. no beeps or extra lights at all.

 

left it a few days and itll boot now (only with the ac adaptor disconnected, after it boots it works fine hooked up) seems to be a problem with one or both of the 280m's as itll start on the vga adaptor with the intergrated graphics disabled. think its about time for an upgrade an haha

 

my apologies for not responding sooner been bogged down with Christmas Well at least it boots now have you tried reinstalling the drivers.

 

yea, no worries, been pretty busy myself. Had some time today to have a play around. Re-installed the drivers like you suggested and it seems to be working fine now, thanks.
While im happy that its working again, it would be better if i knew why it did all this in the first place :S

 

Thats great news sometimes things just randomly break often for no reason at all or because of something stupid Getting any new games??? have a nice Christmas

 

the thing seems to still have issues. hooking it up to my tv with the hdmi seems to kill the hard drives. apart from that its not too bad. no new games yet... none really appeal at the moment, battlefield is still going strong.

possibly narrowed it down some more. seems my charger is stuffed. im getting the correct 19v at the side of the plug, but im getting 6v at the center pin... another charger works on it (way too small though) and theres no voltage at the pin.
