I've got a quick question about the R2 with 2 x 5870....can one change one card with the other ? Can i inverse the videocards in my R2 ? Are they the same ? I'm guessing it's just a matter of interchanging the fans i guess...

Yup you should be able too.

The fans are not interchangeable though. The right is for the right and the left will only fit in the left.

    Cheers. :)

Thanks guys. It's good to know ... so if one fails i can allways use the other one and break the crossfire leaving just one card in.

You shouldn't even have to change them. If the primary fails it should default to the slave.

    Can anyone confirm?

Nope, if the primary fails the system won't POST, same for the slave gpu.
You'll have to switch the gpus and remove the damaged one.

This is true. No CF/SLi notebook does that as of today .

@Sfara: what I do is swap my GPUs between them from time to time, normally everytime I repaste, so the primary one gets to 'relax' more than it used to as a primary card.

    Cheers
