If you know what the risks are/have a clue of what you're doing/did this before you should be fine!
Both cards have the same architecture, only diference is made by the SLi plug.
    Cheers

Hi I am trying to flash my GTX 280M to GTX 285M, but it seems it is not possible, I am trying with the bios katalin_2003 posted. When using nvflash I get the "No matches found" error, and I am not sure what I have to do. I am not sure if I need to modify something about the GTX 285M's bios with Nibitor to get it work, I am a bit lost here. Everytime I try to change something with Nibitor in the Adv. Info tab then the check sum doesn't match and the integrity changes from green to yellow. So I don't wanna do something wrong trying to modify the bios.

    PS:

Only difference between GTX 280M and GTX 285M seems to be the Voltage going from 1V (extra) to 1.01V (extra), is the GTX 280M going to fry if I change the voltage to 1.03V (the 1.01V does not seems to be avaliable in GTX 280M's bios)

when using nvflash you will have to force the flash, otherwise the bios is for a different device ID than the destination card, of course it will say they do not match

Yeah I tried to force using:

    nvflash -4 -5 -6 card.rom

But it always give me the same "no matched found" error. Anyway I found the way to edit my GTX 280M bios to the same voltage and clock rates than GTX 285M ie. 600/1500/1020 and Extra 1.01V, so flashed the cards and it worked with no problem, but, then tested Batman AA, the benchmark jumped from 48 fps av. to 50 fps av. Not bad, but the max temperature from one of the video cards went from 80 °C to 88°C ... Thats just too much hot for too little gain. Then I flashed the cards back to stock bios, and overclocked using NCP, at 600/1500/1020, run Batman AA benchmark again and the temperature jumped from 80 to 81°C.. So I guess 1.01V is just too much for GTX 280M.

use the -i 1 and -i 0 to send the commands to your pci-e cards (think that is the designator)

it may be trying to flash your 9400m

No, in fact NVFLASH seems to look for device coincidence, ie acording to the device ID. Edited my bios with the device name "GTX 285M 1GB" and nvflash gave me the same error "not matches found" but changed the device name to "GTX 280M 1GB", and nvflash was able to flash the cards.

I think it is not possible to change the name of the cards, but we can change the voltages and clock rates of GTX 280M to match the same of GTX 285M but the cards get really hot then.
