So guys, i received my system (in sign) a week ago.
At first everything was working fine, actually better than i expected. Then, suddendly, i started to experience problems while running on crossfire. for example when i run Vantage, during the second graphic test, just before the starship shoot the rockets i get artifacts all over the place and eventually everything freeze. Have to reboot to recover.
Running Furmark in stab test mode, hang the cards (the donut freeze) after about a min and half or so.
Gaming with xfire enabled gave me many problems, every game i play eventually crash (artifact first, then freeze) randomly. Actually as far as crossfire hold, performance are just fine.
This is with dell drivers, or wichever other combination (10.11, 10.12, didn't tryied 10.10, but i don't think is worth the try)
The lap came from Dell already with A01 vbios and 8.763 drivers.
I've already did a respawn as per factory spec. The problem persist.
If i disable crossfire, everything works just fine.
Temperatures are a bit high for my taste, under furmark i can reach 89 / 90 degrees celsius.
Maybe it was working at the beginning becouse the thermal compound had to settle a bit. Now that it has settled it needs a repaste? by the middle of the week i'll receive some shin etzu & AS5 to repaste the gpu's.
Is it worth it?
Any hint is really apreciated, maybe i've got a bad slave card?
Sorry for my english

thanks for the answer,
If it is a bad CF cable/port i should expect CF not to work at all, isn't so? CF works for a bit, and while it does it, it works fine. After a while it starts with the problem.
I did a try, running vantage with 2 instances of gpu-z opened monitoring the 2 cards.
Well just before the artifact started i managed to escape and to go back to desktop. While the average temp of the main card was 64.5 degrees, the average of the slave was >100 degrees?!? this could explain a number of things. The max reading was a series of numbers, like a nonsense due to going over range (?)
Can be a wrong application of the heat sink / thermal compund from factory the problem?
Please, i need answers here
Meanwhile i'm running with crossfire disabled with no problems -
I have the same problem
freezes after awhile in playing while crossfire, doesnt matter which game, and it could happen after 3 mins or 30 mins or one hour.
the performance is fine and smooth, the only problems are the crashes.
only thing is, the temperatures dont go as high as 100C (in gaming). both GPUs stay below 90 while gaming (sometimes maxing and stabilizing at 86) while playing intense games like crysis warhead.
Are you sure the fan of the slave card is working? maybe it does not thats why its going up to 100C
EDIT: try HWinfo32 to monitor the temps, .. i dont know why i dont feel like GPU-Z sensors are very reliable (IMO)
let me know how it goes, as I am having a similar problem and i am desperately searching for a solution other than replacing -

So here is the update.
I've called dell tech service. About 1 hour between waiting etc... but it gave me good result.
in 3 - 5 days a tech will come to my house to replace both vid cards under warranty.
i'll keep you updated
