Hey guys. I just receieved a refurbished R3 today. It looks brand new, and it seems to be running great, but there's one major problem. All over the screen there are yellow lines and yellow ghosting.

What's weird is if I go into the ATI graphics control panel and lower the brightness a bit they completely disappear. But otherwise, they are there.

So, am I missing something obvious? Anyone else ever seen this? Maybe a loose cable or something? I'd like it to be something I could fix, because dammit, it's now the weekend...

Any help would be appreciated. I'll be giving Dell a call today too, of course...

have you tried another driver? could also be a faulty gpu too. some more trouble shooting needs to be done. prolly best just to have them send you another unit.

I haven't, but I just tried the LCD test by holding D + power button and it looks good. No yellow or anything else that shouldn't be. They scheduled a technician for Monday or Tuesday thinking it's the screen, but I'm wondering about GPU... when I switch to Intel from the 6970 the screen becomes even more yellow.

It's odd that both cards have the yellow though, but then the LCD test seems okay.

Okay, so I re-seated LCD cable, and that seems to have fixed the problem! It seems like some thermal paste had gotten in there.

BTW, great guide Inap, I got my M17x r3 Monday, by Wednesday I had some dead pixels in the screen. Your guide was a big help! as well as the thermal paste!

PS. Even though the thermal paste was for the m15x, It was great to learn about even spread and how to apply the thermal paste!
