I've searched and can't find similar (through google as well). I can find answers relating to the GTX 580 M but not my 6990m.

I was wondering does anyone have a list of FPS that THEY personally experience with games using the 6990m with the M17X R3? Just so I have something to compare it to so as i know the system is running perfectly. I few of the games i play are:

    Stalker: Call of Pripyat
    Bad Company 2
    Fallout 3
    Portal 2
    Two Worlds: 2
    Splinter Cell: Conviction
    GTA: Episodes of Liberty City

To name but a few. If i had something to compare my FPS to (I'm using fraps) this would be greatly appreciated! Or if someone can tell me what i should expect to get by looking at my specs, that'd be great also. Specs:

    i7 2720QM 2.2Ghz
    6990m
    12Gb Ram
    80GB Intel X-25m SSD (OS)
    750GB HDD

p.s question relates to running the games on HIGHEST graphics

p.ss is it also worth updating my BIOS to A8? Currently running A4. What does it actually change?

I'm running the Unlocked A08 bios in my machine, its better from my perspective because you get so many more tweaking options. The biggest thing with the stock A08 bios is that it recognizes the refreshed gen 2 core i7's...so in the future, if you decide to upgrade to a 2960xm, it will be plug and play.

Unfortunately, i don't play any of those games that you listed...however, download 3dmark Vantage and run a bench.

This is the score i get running my 6990 OC'ed to 800/1050 so you can compare to see how your system is running:

As for Vantage, overclocked at 835/1200 I scored 16460 running the 11.9 drivers. I've seen scores over/around 17K from 6990M owners who have 2820QM's (or better) and are also able to get a slightly faster overclock from their GPU than I can. That's about the peak though.

Cheers guys and sorry for the late reply! I did run FutureMark and it carried out a whole series of tests, however i couldn't view the results afterwards. When i click the link to view online, the page only loaded halfway :/. Doesn't matter really, am more than happy with the way it's performing so!

Yeah I was on battery, on high performance.... :/ I just rebooted my computer and ran the test again, with EVERY SINGLE program shut down, nothing open other than the essential backgrounds, anti virus etc. I got scores:

    3DMark Score13712 3DMarks
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Graphics Score12604
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    CPU Score18618
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Jane Nash37.11 FPS
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    New Calico36.72 FPS

    AI Test 2577 operations/s

    Physics Test 24 operations/s

What do you think here? FYI still on 04Bios, not overclocked.

    you're fine

It's your processor that's slowing you down. Try restarting your machine and make sure you're on AC power ... then run 3dmk11

Max performance is in 3 different places,

    1. Alienware command center.
    2. Windows powerplan.
    3. Ati Catalyst Control Center.

Make sure they're all on high performance mode.

Check to be sure the Intel SpeedStep and Turboboost are enabled in the BIOS and have not been otherwise disabled (i.e., ThrottleStop). As Nayilalien said, your CPU is underperforming expectations significantly. Also check to assure that PowerPlay is enabled in CCC and is set to Maximize performance when plugged in.
