Anyone know if it true that if you configure m17x R3 with 4GB DDr3 RAM the motherbored only comes with dual channel slots maxed for 8GB of RAM?

I'd rather have the option to buy RAM from places other then Dell for much cheaper, but in 2-3 years time I might opt for much more RAM, possibly 16GB. If this is true its going to be a real bummer.

Other question considering I have an old laptop thinking about wireless cards was never on my mind. It worth getting the best? What are the performance differences?

    P.S Any reviews out yet?

As with all R3 questions, none of us have really seen one yet. Going with that:

    1. The motherboard in the R3 should all be the same. If you read the manuals on Dell's website it clearly states there are 4 DIMM slots for upgrading. The only limit on RAM pre-32GB is the version of Windows you are running.

    2. There are some performance differences, but it's mostly based in what router you have as well. The router has to support MIMO as well if you upgrade to the 2x2 and 3x3. They're cheaper to buy on the net than get the upgrade from Dell.

    3. No. There are 'reviews', which are basically blurbs about the press release and the specs so far. There are no reviews from anyone who has actually touched one. There won't be until Dell starts giving reviewers some to play with.
