    Mine does the same thing from time to time if I have my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) plugged in to charge while trying to boot. Do you have anything plugged it that would cause a similar issue?

    My R3 will start with USB devices plugged in but there will be a delay at the BIOS screen (the red bar will get stuck for a few seconds). It's also dependent on what devices I have plugged in;
    devices that will delay it: Phone (same phone as Tony), Corsair Voyager 32GB USB Drive, Sony 16GB Microvault, PICO 16GB USB Drive, MP3 players;
    Devices that don't cause a delay: Patriot XPorter 8GB USB Drive, various Kingston USB drives.

    That said, if you have any device plugged into the eSATA port, the computer will not start until you pull it out. My guess is it has something to do with blind flashing.

    In addition to this, the other thing that comes to mind is the SSD. When I was running an 120GB OCZ Agility 3 as my boot drive, I had it in bay 0 with IRST installed. In this configuration I used to get hangs and lockups. Especially annoying was when starting up the computer it would POST, go through the BIOS screen but then during the Windows loading screen (I have no GUI boot so it was a blank screen for me) the machine would hang with the HDD read light (alien eyes :D ) constantly on. I would have to force power down and try to start up again. Eventually it got so bad that I would have to turn the machine on and off again 20+ times just to get it to boot up! That's when I moved the SSD to the bay 1 and uninstalled IRST. After that, all my problems went away and even shaved a few seconds off my boot time.

    I got the international galaxy s2 if that means anything, but This always seems to occur even with boot USB devices turned off. When I get around to getting my mobo replaced again here soon, ill see if it also has the same issue, which i bet it will.

    My T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (T989) boots with my R3 perfectly in any port. However, my Razer Copperhead does not allow it to boot up at all, and will just freeze at the Alienhead loading screen. My USB external hard drive works fine as well...

    I dont have any usb devices plugged in. When i turn on my pc sometimes its just hangs before raid checking, all i can see is that:

    _ (that underscore and whole black screen)

    Just did some research and noticed one thing. When i restart my laptop it completely turns off then turn on -> then it boots well. But when i press restart and its not turning completely off -> im getting hang before raid check.

    what it might be?

    Interesting. I have the international version as well (GT-I9100). I guess the T-Mobile version is different.

    What do you mean by "turn off completely"?
    When it fails to boot and you finally get the machine to boot up do you get the "Windows failed to load. Press [whatever button] to start startup repair"?

    Nope, it loads as normal.
    Well when i had ASUS G73 -> i press restart and it just restarts without turning off pc. And now on m17x r3 when i restart it turns off (like i did shutdown pc, then it just starts again by hisself). But when it doesnt shutdowns before restart - i cant pass raidcheck its just hangs on that window with underscore.

    Weird...the only time I experience the hang with the underscore was when I had a USB device plugged in the eSATA port.
    So you're saying that when you go to restart the R3 it doesn't always shutdown properly?

    I would get that occasionally when I had an Agility 3 as my boot drive installed in bay 0 with IRST. I moved it to bay 1 and uninstalled IRST and my problems went away. However that isn't possible with a RAID setup.

    When you do get the hang either booting up or shutting down, does the HDD light (alien eyes on the power button) stay on as if the SSD is being read constantly?

    I've readed somewhere on these forums that intel recommends using 520 series in a raid setup... So raid or AHCI i dont know exactly...

    About eyes would check next time.

    I had an OCZ Vertex 2 before my current Corsair and that was incompatible with the Intel RST drivers in AHCI and RAID, to my understanding. My Corsair runs great with the Intel RST and I'm much happier with it than my OCZ.

    Regarding the hangs, I had the same experience with a few devices in the past, most notably my Razer Naga Epic. But when I moved that to a USB3.0 port rather than 2.0, that problem disappeared. In the past on other machines I've seen USB thumb drives do it, but it was intermittent.

    Could be the cause of the startup problems but I'm not sure about the shutting down. Try unplugging the mouse every time before you power up and see if the problem persists.

    No I'm using the G700 by Logitech. The keyboard I'm using is the Blackwidow Ultimate by Razer and it has a USB port. The keyboard and the port are plugged into the USB 2.0 on the right side of the R3 and the USB dongle for the mouse goes into the port on the keyboard.

    Hey guys, this is my exact problem! I only started getting this error when I swapped in a 256 Samsung 830 SSD.

    I have the Razer Naga MMO mouse connected to the right side, but now I've switched it to the 3.0 slot (one more towards the back, on the left side).

    My question is, so when you've installed the cloud-based configurator for the Naga, I take it you don't use the normal drivers anymore? Because now that I've installed the configurator, I have 2 Naga icons in the task menu-the driver and the Synapse.

    I just had the startup issue again =\

    What sucks even more is that Windows Startup Repair executes and my Windows rolls back to even before I installed the configurator.
