Hi, I've just received my new R3. I bought it off ebay. I should have a 6990m, but the dell service tag and AMD CCC only refer to the card as a AMD HD 6900 series card. Is there a way to verify whether I have a 6970m or 6990m installed.

Download GPU-Z (can be found on techpowerup) and see what the program tells you. It will tell you all of the information you need to know (including the name of the GPU).

Use GPU-Z and check the shaders. 960 for 6970M and 1120 for 6990M.

    Thanks TurbodTalon :)

Yes it has 1120 unified shaders, so I guess it is a 6990m. I find it odd that GPU-Z also just calls it a AMD HD 6900M series as well though.

The only program that I can recall that showed the actual series of the card was HWInfo64.

And even Mumak doesn't want to commit on the 6990M. :)

in gpuz, your speeds should read 715/900...1120 shaders was already mentioned above

As stated, use GPUZ to confirm the number of shaders. 1120 is a 6990m. No software will ever be definative about which card you have, because ATI was stupid enough to use the same hardware ids for both the 6970m and 6990m
