    m17x R4 Bios Password

    I just bought a broken m17x r4 from someone on craigslist for 500$ and I have gotten it to boot, BUT the bios is locked, and i dont know what to do. It isnt super vital that I be able to modify bios settings, but it would be nice to disable the integrated graphics card.
    I called dell and the laptop is out of warranty by over a year.
    I have contacted the prior owner via craigslist to try to get his name and zip code to possibly transfer ownership to be able to pay dell for help. But since it is craigslist I am not holding my breath.

    Is there any other way that I can be able to modify the bios settings or to disable the integrated card via windows?
    Will the unlocked bios files remove the master/admin password and allow access? Or am I stuck dealing with optimus?
    Thanks a ton for any help or suggestions.

    No it will not you will have to just replace the motherboard in the unit. And that will fix the issue.

    I have got an unlock code from Dell but I had to fax them a code from the machine's HD and a copy of my DL with the registered address - they have a standard form to fax for this - this was in the US and other countries may well have their own procedures. It is designed to be unable to be unlocked whatever software or firmware is used - e.g.hacker tools.
