    hi im looking at buying an alienware m17x. are the optical drives between laptops relatively interchangeable?

    i have a dell xps m1530 with nvidea chipset issues(baked it in the oven for the 4th time the other day) that i'd like to take the bluray burner out of and put it in the new m17x.

    Yeah both are slot load. They are interchangable but be prepared to set aside a few hours to do the taking apart and swapping.
