    ebay my friend, ebay :)

There's also a bucketload of shops having parts for alienwares including lids, also 2nd hand ones in all kind of grades, for example parts-people.com

Here is where I get the parts for my R2. They have parts for the R3 and R4 as well.

Dell Alienware M17xR3 Laptop Replacement Parts | Parts-People.com

I am not sure if the R3's LCD components are the same as the R4, but this site does carry the R3/R4 main chassis. Most of the parts are refurbished or used so the pricing is fairly reasonable.

Parts people is where i get my parts from usually, but no lcd lid and base is not available for r4 there aswell. Even pchub doesn't have any :(

I cannot find the exact part numbers either, so that doesn't help me either. I am going to call dell in a bit and ask them for exact part numbers for r4.

I tried ebay but my usual experience is, there is no guarantee of getting exact parts. I ordered new cpu fan for m17xr2(old one started making this slight whine) and seller sent me used and damaged fan which made worse noise while running.

Are the R3 and R4 lids not identical?

FYI, I'm sure they changed the lid on the R4 with the 120hz display. It is a different panel to the R3 and I assume slightly different thickness. I can't imagine Dell wanted a different part for this but the web configurator errors if you do not select the '3D top cover' when selecting the color, and have already selected 120hz display. Was not an option when I built my R3

This is good info for those of us that are suffering from the paint flecking problem on the bezel above and around the media keys....$30 for a new one is not completely unreasonable and if I order another one I can powder coat one and still have a spare if I don't like the results :)
