Hey ya guys. After much fuss a few months ago My laptop is finally working all as it should be. But this one problems.

I wanted to update my drivers in hopes to get some more performance and stability, and they are over a year old drivers now (7/18/2009).

So I went to the nVidia site and got the latest ones for my 260M sli's here and while installing them my screen went black and then make a loud beep and restarted. When it tried to load windows back up I think I saw a blue screen of death and had to do a roll back to get back up and running here.

I don't want to keep having to do a roll back as this was a problem about a month ago when I tried to do it as well with the drivers from dell and the official nvidia drivers.

Any ideas as to what might be happening and a possible solution? I looked on google and didn't come up with much other than to update the drivers, LOL

Yeup that didn't work, I had to do roll back again.

Other thoughts? Or am I stuck with these 'working-ish' drivers for now?

Hmm... Have you talked with support? I went through about a week of testing with them, and had to install the latest bios, and then evantually reinstall the OS, and then they sent a guy out to replace both my 260's and that along with the drivers seemed to fix the issue.

It was painful to deal with the tech guys, but I kept a log of who I talked to, and what had been done. And just recited it every time I called them.

If the onsite visit had not corrected the issue, I was relly going to get upset, but it did.

I actually now have an external monitor hooked up, and extended the desktop across the laptop and the external monitor, with no problem.

I play WOW a ton and get anywhere from 30 - 100 FPS, depending on what is going on, ect. And play Fallout NV, with no crashes, and only a stutter every once in a while.

When I get home, I will double check the driver version and post it here.

Yeah I know all about tech support. I would rather just buy new video cards my self and install them than deal with them again. When I got it brand new back in December I had to have a tech come out 3 times to replace the mother board, wireless card, and then some wiring he put screws through for the lighting on the front speakers. All in all it was a total of 19.5 hours on the phone with tech and arguing with them because it was brand new and nothing worked and what not to even get the replacement parts with being charged for them.

I've thought about just doing a fresh install of windows with out using the restore, but it's kind of like a last effort before replacing them.

Sorry, not trying to sound not thankful for the help so far just really don't want to deal with tech. Ever since dell has taken over AW, it seems it's gone to crap.

Anyway, ~takes a breath of air~, I try some of those drivers on the other thread but so far nothing seems to be working including the drivers from dell's webstie.

    "Good news everyone.."

I got the updated drivers installed and working. This is what I did to get them to not give me BSOD reboot+rollback.

Open bios, disable hybrid graphics, and only use integrated. Load into safe mode, install drivers. Reboot into bios, but back hybrid graphics like it was before and boot into safe mode again, Open device manager, open one of the 260M's and click update driver and search automatically, and it updated them proper. And all is good now with the world again.

Still seems silly to have to do it in such an odd way but I think maybe the problem was that it was something to do with the sli and resources that would crash the computer with updating the drivers, ~shrug~
