now its obviously not ideal to run the m17x r1/r2 laptop with out any video card fans and from what i understand the default fans are f603n(left) f605n(right), but what i'm looking at and wondering is there possibly any other potentinal fans out there maybe better or that can be comptaible to be used?

i was installing a m17x with 280m sli and i noticed that the right fan is not included in my m17x so i was wondering if there was some kind of alternate cheap solution that could be done. all you really need is a fan to push air out, i was wondering if any mods we're done or anything like that,

If you google the real part number (should be written on the fan), you will find it cheaper.

    BATA0812R5H parts

EDIT: Didn't see they are out of stock.

The GPU fans take cold air from the bottom of the system and blows it on the heatsink blades so they'll cool down and the heat is evacuated thru the back.
Cheap solutions are not always the best, you don't want to joke with cooling :D and running your card without a fan it's possible but it'll get very hot as soon as it's going to be used so it's a bad idea, sorry.

One idea might be to take the back cover off of the notebook and use a notebook cooler (try to make sure one of the coolers fans is blowing right at the second GPU).

A lot of notebooks use similar fans, the pinout is usually the same, if it's not, you can wire it up yourself. Most of them are 5v, so you can connected them to a USB port if neeeded.

I'm sure you will be able to get a cheaper fan that will work, but make sure you watch that card carefully.
