i got it yesterday 17 740 6 gigs ram 15870 card.It looks pretty, but it runs like crap.I cant get more than 15 fps in mw2 and its worse in other games. My m17 thats 2 yrs old runs bettar than this.I have tried every suggestion on this board.throttlestop which doesnt stop anything.setfsb does nothing because it still throttles down.very dissapointed and am returning it.Hopefully they do away with this speed stepping crap in their next series.

Stealth mode? Something is obviously wrong if it runs slower than your 2 year old M17.

Yeah. That setup will max out MW2 dude. You've got something not set up correctly.

Make sure you're not in Stealth Mode.
Make sure you're on the High Performance power setting.
Go into Catalyst Control Center and Make sure all of the sliders under '3D' are to the far LEFT accept for Catalyst AI and Mip Mapping.
Make sure you're plugged in to external AC power (duh).

Next time please run a search as this topic has been covered 647,983,615 times. And you can avoid being flamed too.

Hmm... glad you got your problem resolved. But still it's not acceptable for AW. Call 'em up and give them a complaint, maybe they'll send you some new sticks so you won't need to waste your extra pair of hyper-x ram.

If the problem was memory, almost everything..if not EVERYTHING, should be crawling as well. This includes bootup, general startup/shutdown of apps, games, etc. Glad you found the problem.

Yep I had a RAM problem last times too. Every single time I would boot up the system it would randomly BSOD on me. Also sometimes I would be able to boot in however 15 mins later BSOD oles. Same every single time oles.
I ran the dell diagnostics test and it came up with a RAM error so I got my RAM changed oles.

    Cheers. :)

Lol, definatrely agree with the others memory suggestions. I'm assuming you removed each stick and tested 1 stick at a time through windows diagnostics memory tests? And each stick in each dimm to rule out a bad dimm slot? It was stealth mode. 100%. Kinda like saying , This car is broke because it won't go forward, but you have to know that you need to hit the gas... ;)

... or in this case to remove the "stealth" brick underneath the pedal, blocking the gas pedal to move. :p

What *might* have happened is that stealth mode got turned off while he was replacing RAM, because the battery was probably out for quite a bit. :)

If I accidentally hit the Stealth Mode button, I get a prompt. It doesn't just go into Stealth Mode. This being said, how is it the reason the most new threads are created here? Is there some other way Stealth Mode is enabled besides the button that gives a PROMPT?

In my case, it was not the problem in enabling it, but disabling it. Which actually required the power drain.

And he stirs the Mac pot! Way to go faiz! The ram would also cause more problems than just a slow down if there was something legitimately wrong with it, gotta be the stealth mode. Maybe you should download Wattos stealth mode indicator to help ya out there bud. Makes it a little more easy for ya just a simple red or green alienhead.

Some users are new to the M17x, like me. I have no clue what this Stealth mode is at this point in time. My M17x won't arrive til next week. I think this thread is useful :)

Edit: Links in regard to Stealth mode for the new people who can't be bother to search :D

    bad mobo?

As for stealth mode I accidently unplugged mine before it was finished shutting down and then it got stuck in some sort of super stealth mode which took a complete reload of windows to fix.
