hey guys, iv been having problems with my computer for awhile now with alienware. iv had a tech come to my house 5-8 times since i bought this two months ago. with a bunch of different problems that they were all resolved after the techs came.

my most recent tech came to install my second GPU because my replacement laptop they sent me didnt have it and i payed for it so they had to come and put the second GPU in. the cards i have are two radeon HD 5870 in crossfire

when the tech left everything was working and then about a week or two later i checked my CCC and i noticed this error in the AMD CrossfireX Diagnosis.

the error in the AMD CrossfireX Diagnosis says:
The CrossfireX internal bridge interconnects linking your CrossfireX graphics cards are not properly connected. Both bridge interconnects must be attached. for more information see the user's guide for your graphics card.

what do you think this problem is? could it be a software issue or did he not install something right and im having hardware issues "again"

i sent the tech iv been dealing with everytime a message regarding this problem and i havent heard back from her yet and its been over a week so im about to call up tech support and try to get a different tech.

Means the crossfire cable is disconnected. Open up the laptop and reconnect them. It's pretty easy to do and plenty of guides floating around.

The only other problem it can be is that the actual CrossfireX connector ports are bad, and are not recognizing that the connector is present. Meaning, it is not making contact.

My guess would have to be with joker though, most likely the cable is disconnected. Its pretty rare that the actual CorssfireX ports are messed up.

Just take off your service cover, remove the 2 screws for the touch cover, and pop it off. Remove the 5 screws for the keyboard and you should see both graphics cards with the blue CrossfireX cable. Check them to make sure they are both plugged in. The secondary card is unlikely to come loose because it is taped on that end from factory.

Yes the cable is loose.Just open her up and reset it.While you are in there you should put some new paste on your gpus and cpu.

I love when people throw in the repaste whenever a user is going to open his system.

To the OP, unless you have overheating problems don't bother with a repaste, it is not always necessary.

Just remove the 2 screws under the battery to get the control strip off. then the 5 screws on the keyboard and that should give you enough access to the machine to see if the cable is disconnected

You can watch the M17x teardown video if your unsure how to reach the crossfire cable.

The fact that he has it open is the reason to repaste to get some better paste than the factory crap they use Unless you have some useful info just keep you random argument subjects to yourself. If you want to get the longset life from your pc a repaste will be most definitely necessary so better to do it when it is open.
