I bought an m17x r2 off a buddy of mine that was fried. He had spilled a drink into the top of the keyboard. I have replaced the keyboard, motherboard (the light on the ac adapter would go out once the keyboard main connector was connected to the motherboard), the center control cover, the power button, and the battery. After replacing the battery, the alienhead on the lid of the laptop glowed redish white, where the head on the inside glowed redish blue. Can someone give me a hand as in what is bad?

It's probably just the theme that he had set up. o_O Try to turn it on. :D

Every time I push the bower button, the entire laptop goes dead. As in the charging lights, go out (Not the one on the ac adapter). The laptop also sounds like for a split second it tries to start up when the button is pushed, but none of the fans spin, nor a hint of light from the display. I am wondering if the motherboard that i bought might be bad.

I'm in the same boat. You should really watch this youtube vid. In the vid, he quotes specs for an r3, but the machine he's working on is an r2.

After seeing this video I'm convinced AW had a problem with poorly mounted mobo power sockets in the r2 line of mobos.
