So here is the short end of it, I bought a m17xr2 while I am working in Alabama (I live in PA).It actually arrived today and I will be going home over the weekend and then back to Alabama so I will have it with me.

That being said are there any test/procedures I should do to insure it is in good working order?

I will be back the following weekend for 4 days but then I will be away from my home address for approx. 3 months. I would really like to be able to know if I can count on it and/or that if something is wrong so that I can have it taken care of.

I did try and search but came up empty if this information is somewhere please let me know that I missed it and I will search again.

    Laptop is :

run a few benches and compare your scores to others. if they match up your good to go. its really hard to determine how reliable it gonna be. just have fun with it and when a issue comes up there are plenty of people here willing to help. the best thing to do is get an extended warranty for it, so if it does break you know you'll be taken care of.

The only way you are going to see if it is reliable or not is by using the machine. Open it up and start using it, and see how well it works.

Also make sure it has the latest drivers, BIOS, etc.

Thanks guys, I am semi new to benchmarking any ones you would suggest? And I was asking to see if there were any known programs that would sort out common failures on these. I will have it on and running by Friday assuming my flight doesn't get delayed, I am far to excited about it I must say.

You will want to run something from the 3DMark series. Probably 3D Mark Vantage so you won't have any issues finding benchmarks to compare yours against. I hope you really enjoy it!
