    m17x r2 trying to fit another hdd

    hi all i just got another hdd for the laptop( well one lying around) my extrnal hdd gone has decided it needs reformatting before i can use it again so i need to take info of the hdd.

    so i was going to put the hdd in and the second hdd slot but has a different connection and the hard drive hasnt got same connections but old and new hdds fits into hdd0 in the laptop. do i need to buy some sort of connector or what... thought it would have come with the right fittings.

    p.s both hdds have same connection one is wd scorpio blue and other that came with laptop is scorpio black.

    Hello, I had the same problem as you when I bought my M17x, so I called Dell and asked them for the 2nd HDD installation kit, which they sent me for free. They wanted to charge 67$ but I manage to get it shipped next business day all for free.

    I think that only applies in US.

    essentially the second hdd kit will include the adapter, and 1 - 4 screws depending. Although you should have received it with your system (thought they had this resolved).
