So two days ago my laptop's display just turns off after a few minutes of use for no reason. I start it back up and its working fine- then it happens again after a few minutes. Eventually the laptop display fails to turn on at all, but the system can boot up normally and everything is responsive, which confused me. So i did some research and ended up removing the display lid and reseating all the monitor cables. Laptop started up properly but again after a few minutes the screen shut off- so i decided to do more research and narrowed it down to a broken inverter. I flashed a light on my screen and could see the laptop was operating and POSTing as usual, i even managed to log on to my desktop and played around with some display settings that i thought may help, but the lcd backlight didn't want to turn on at all. As far as i could tell from my research, this means that i need to replace the lcd inverter.
The only problem is that I don't know where the inverter is or how to replace it. I know how to remove the display and the back cover (with the light-up alienhead on it) but i can't see the inverter board. If anyone could post a tutorial or show me how to get to the inverter (pictures would be super appreciated) so that i can install a new one i would be very very grateful.
    Thanks in advance

p.s. i've been searching for this for a very long time and i can't find any solution. This is my first time posting on this forum so you can see how desperate i am

p.s.s. Laptop is a bit over 2 years old, i replaced the keyboard and the gpu in september but that shouldn't be relevant since the gpu is working finely. I'd also like to know which inverter would be compatible with my laptop

    Thanks

just figured that the laptop doesn't even have an inverter, so i'm guessing its either a cable issue or a bad screen. any ideas?

You'll probably need a new screen or the cable. If you still have warranty we can help you with that . [email protected]

problem is its out of warranty :(
i'm going to take it to the local tech store and have them diagnose it. I hope its the cable because that'd be much cheaper.
