So i did a fresh install now that ive got my m17x R3 working, The old install everything seemed to sort of work fine but there were issues all over the place, It was basicly transplanted windows to check and see if all the replacement parts worked (they do) So i then reinstalled fresh and i installed the latest beta driver from AMD and windows 8.1, I can't get my 6990m to leave it's idle state wich as you can guess, a 100mhz coreclock with 150mhz memory isn't very responsive

    Extra wierdness inc:

Disabling the IGP in the bios (a12) and the 6990m says HI how are you and works fine, Turn on the IGP and bam 100/150 even when it's selected as high performance

I'm surprised you can even get into windows. At launch, I would get a white screen instead of the windows boot screen with the igpu enabled. I just manually switched between gpu's with the bios switch. Don't think there is another way to get everything working right now as the r3 isn't officially supported on windows 8 let alone 8.1.

I'm somewhat of a windows wrangler when it comes to getting it to not play ball, I was hoping to have the IGP good to go for brightness control, But it seems this will have to do.

Of course going back to windows 7 would fix the issue :).

I don't think there is an specific way to make that work. Since the PC was not officially launched with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 some issues like this one may arise.

Went back to 7 put my ssds in raid zero (Ermahgerd speed) And issue still remains, When the IGP is enabled in the bios, The DGPU even when selected will not leave 100/150, Disabling IGP in the bios makes it behave nromally.

If this is the case then the CPU itself could be bad and malfunctioning. Since this is where the igpu is located. However is the gpu the one that was shipped with the system? And hardware wise .. Have you changed anything when this problem arose?
