    Hi all,
My 6990m died at the weekend so naturally I am looking for a replacement. What would you recommend for the best upgrade with minimal fuss / workarounds.

At the moment I'm thinking of getting a 7970m, both being AMD cards, I would hope this would be a very simple like for like swap (could be very wrong with that statement).

I have heard certain cards especially if I go nvidia (liking the 680m btw) will require new brackets and a new heat sink. Which if confirmed seems to be an unnecessary additional expense / effort, with minimal gain if this can be avoided with a AMD card.

Like above if I can get away with replace/upgrading the dead 6990m, take out the 6990m, put the new card in, keeping the same brackets, keeping the same heat sink, download driver and job done, that would be perfect (if thats even possible).

You thoughts and opinion will be very welcome.

    Thanks
