Once it bsod'd on you just restart and install again, dont do anything else.

Hmmm if the max resolution you can get is 1280x1024 then I'm afraid you will have to reinstall windows. That happened to me once and I did not find a better solution than that.

were you ever able to successfully reinstall the video card drivers? Could be that your installation is somewhat count half way and has completely corrupted you system.

I had this problem when installing the latest ATI drivers, until I found somewhere on these forums, from a fresh installation of Windows 7 (with no graphics drivers installed, except the windows default), you need to install the old 6970m Dell drivers (Version A00) from here, then install the latest ATI drivers over these, and you shouldn't get any BSODs :D

Yes, I install these drivers first on my 6990m, then I install the latest ATI drivers, and I do not get any BSODs by doing this :D

You could try the 12.2 or 12.3 drivers and see if they work, but right now I'm using the 12.1 drivers, and I am able to use the switchable graphics with no problems.

    Download link for 12.1: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/12-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe

Just updated to 12.2 preview without BSOD :O
But i cant use CCC is that normal? Switchable graphics seems to work and in GPUZ it says 8.940 driver which means 12.2!

Here's the next question - when i switched to intel graphics how can i go back to my radeon? i press FN+F7 and click yes but nothing happens..

Hmm, mine works fine on the 12.1 drivers, but you can try this:

Right click on your desktop and click "Configure Switchable Graphics" and in the CCC window that pops up, see if it's status is set to the "High Performance" or "Power Saving" GPU, and if it is on the "Power Saving" click on "High Performance" and see if it will switch back to it from there, and if it does switch back to it, try pressing the FN+F7 again and see if it switches between both GPUs correctly

Just noticed: when ure installing latest drivers over DELL drivers they're not working correctly... For example after WEI rating test my aero theme wont come back.. it stays without transparent effects.. only restart helps...

So i stick with R307094 DELL drivers. Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

Also, make sure everything is closed (including web browser) or it will not change graphics. At least thats how mine works

And the strange thing - when i look for my driver version in GPU-Z it says atiumdag 8.851.2.0 (Catalyst 12.3)
    Is that normal?

Just downloaded and installed 12.1 off of your link but when I go to ATI Driver update for the 12.3 it gives me an error.

    ***UPDATE***
I was able to update with the direct link. Now running on 12.3

no issues with 12.3 so far. 3DMark score of 14126 with 12.1 and 14513 with 12.3, everything stock, no mod or overclocking. So I guess there is some advantage to 12.3.
