    Hi all,

is it a good idea to get the single 750G HDD and then buy yourself a 500G seagate momentus xt. then configure both as Raid 0? does this work?

no, it's not a good idea to mix different drives in a RAID 0 configuration.
Your RAID array will be limited to the speed of the slowest drive.
Also, Dell sells the Momentus XT for quite a good price, so i don't see a reason not to go ahead and buy it from them.

I see, it was not an option for the m17x r3 during customization, i will look into it.

If not Raid 0, is it fine to just have them separately? store files, backups into the 750G and main OS, apps on the momentus XT?

oh yeah, you're right, they don't offer the Momentus XT with the R3.. hmm.. then yeah, buy it aftermarket, just don't RAID it ;)

Hey,guys,I was intending to install a Vertex SSD as the primary drive in the secondary bay & keep the 750gb HDD as internal backup.Someone in this forum mentioned that Intel recommends RAID,so in this configuration, the overall speed would also be limited to the 750gb HDD?
