    m17x r3 Themes

    Hey,

    I'm tryign to make some cool themes,

    but for some reason, I can't change the Color of the Alien head on teh top of my laptop.

    A lot of themes include these and I can't change mine.

    Any reason being so?

    you can only do this with r1 and r2 , the r3 alienhead can only be white of what I know.

    That's because unlike the previous models, the M17x R3 gets the alien head lighting from the LCD back lighting and i don't remember which panel does have a separate board to light the alien head but only white LEDs and not connected to the AlienFX system.

    So for this model it's impossible to change the alien head color without modding it yourself ;)

    would it be a technical or mechanical?

    You might not want to do it if you ask these questions :D

    Ideas are infinite, and yes you'll have to physically modify it and that involves taking it apart.

    I havent had my M17xR3 much more than about a month. Ive read all the posts where you guys say the alienhead cant be changed because the light from the display lights it up. However when the system hibernates the head is still lit up?? If it lights from the display wouldnt it go out when display does?
