I bought an m17x r3 during that super sale that ended recently. I got one fully loaded and it included the nvidia "3d" bundle. It didnt come with glasses, so how can i see if this laptop's screen is indeed 3d enabled so i can just call and tell them to send me the glasses. If it isnt, can i demand they send someone over to install the proper screen? Also its a certified refurbished but there are two small scraps near the vents in the back.. I thought i was supposed to come in like new condition? Thanks guys

first off, call them regarding glasses. if you claim you have a 3d bundle and they're not there, they have to send you another ones.
the only problem with tech support (like with any support) is that they need to be "persuaded" that you actually need help :)
secondly, certified refurbished can come with minor dents or scratches, i suggest you look at the dell outlet's complete description.
third, do you mean the alienware logo or the ALIENWARE that's written right below the screen? if you mean the one on the media panel, mine isnt "shining" so much too. I suggest you mess with the alienware software in either case to figure out if maybe you need to change color scheme. try experimenting with it.
good luck & welcome to the AW club :p

thanks for the reply. I pretty much solved all my problems with my system besides the glasses. I got this thing for 1300 pretty much fully loaded. Tech support told me i had to buy the glasses and that even though it was on my list "bundle" that they wouldnt come with them, its just saying my laptop can do 3d. I asked him, oh so thats what "bundle" means huh?? So tech support werent exactly helpful. Any ideas on what department to call for them? From my understanding even if its refurb it should still have the glasses with them

Yeah, there's no point in calling it a 'bundle' if you got the Nvidia GPU, 3D capable screen, and no glasses. That is a mistake on their part.

How did you solve the dim Alienware logo problem?

call tech support again :)))) try calling DELL tech supp and then try calling ALIENWARE tech supp :) either way each time you call you get a new SR, and it really depends on what SR has to tell you. also it will help if you don't mention you got it refurbished, so that they didn't make up things

i had to cycle between dim and normal for the lights to be normal again. Blue still looks dimmer the all the other colors for some reason, but what ever. Right now im on the phone with this about the 3d glasses. Ive been transferred 4 times. NO one at dell knows whats going on and they are all lazy so they transfer you in an endless loop. Dell really needs to work on their customer service.

dont u think I know it?
what you need is: technical support, when you dial number, it gives you 3 options (AW TS) and only one of them fits to hardware issues (which is what u need) technical can also be reached if you go on pressing "0" until you reach someone on the other end of line, basically all those guys have MANAGERS who actually KNOW what to do, you can also try that.just be nice with people and you'll get what you want. it took me 2 weeks of endless calls to get my r2 exchanged for r3 when everyone in TS was telling me its impossible :)

I hate dell costumer service. someone even kind of threatened me not to call back because he didnt want to be involved in cancelling my order (ordered it, next day 20% discount -.-") then I got transferred like 10 times because they couldn't find the order. After I got the notebook I had some questions/issues so I emailed them, but no answer.

Alienware is great but costumer service sucks IMO.

this thread is not about AW's customer service, but i believe they never threaten people not to call back, it's only the way you understand things. by the way, again, CS depends on your REPRESENTATIVE, calling back a dozen times helps. And you know, I dont get email responses even when I am dealing with more serious things in life, don't expect dell CSRs who are busy 24/7 receiving calls to even notice your email. they have job to do you know.

you can believe what you want, but I'm merely stating the facts. Maybe I was just unlucky. It IS their job 2 reply 2 my email and if they can't than Dell should find some employees.

Anyway, this thread is not about Alienware CS as you said.

@dandan112988 just keep trying it is a "3d BUNDLE" so the glasses should be included. I have read that you're not the only one, cant seem to find the thread about this same problem though. They don't like giving the glasses with it.
