Is there a decrease in performance at all? If not, this downclock might be a good thing and is designed to save battery while not gaming. other than that idk why AMD would do that.

well atm youtube videos are uneffected, its just drops the clocks to 900/300, but when i switch to another tab on firefox or google chrome, its goes back to 750/1150, the screen does that flicker everytime it changes, just dont want it to mess something up..

i think i figured it out, i used the one of the tricks here to unlock the catlyst overdrive feature for the 6907m, it automatically throttles back on lesser apps such as videos, at least thats what i think...

Yeah, I've noticed for a long time my clocks act weird. I finally realized that they act normal if Firefox isn't opened.

BTW, you should not WANT it to be at full clockspeed when you are just on the internet... It should be just sitting at 100/150 unless you're actually doing 3D stuff. So actually, it pisses me off to see it at 300/900 when I am just using Firefox...

I have my ATI settings to high performance when on power. Possibly it would go lower than 300/900 in FF while on battery.

Both the 6990M in my R3 and the 6970M in my M15x use 300/900 clocks on YouTube or any other web site using Flash video (i.e. ESPN) and have for as long as I can remember. Once invoked, clocks remain at that level so long as there is an open tab for the page which included flash video. As soon as you navigate away, clocks return to 100/150. I think it is just providing a little extra oomph to handle flash video. In any event, it is perfectly normal for these cards. I think the 5850M in my M15x did the same thing (although the adjusted clocks may have been different).
