I check my temps, they seemed fine, in the 50C range.
I believe I don't have any viruses. Checked with avast and mbam. And I never let anyone plug anything in my laptop.

Yet i seem to get a lot of stutters even with google chrome.. Sometimes even a movie doesn't play smoothly.. On other days it runs beautifully even with a VM running.. What could be the issue?

Do you have 2 antivirus programs installed at the same time?
Try testing your HDD/SSD and memory, HDD/SSD first.
