I just recently recieved my m17x r3 and every time I play any sort of game, there are blips in the audio. They are hard to detect, but now they are constant, every couple of seconds, it's like a crackle or pop of static then it goes back to normal. I've tried playing Skyrim, BF 3, everything is the same. When I play music on youtube or iTunes, it works just fine. It's only specifically when playing video games. It's definitely not the headphones, I can listen to music fine on an external device. I also plugged in another pair of headphones and I had the same problem

So far, I disabled the Nvidia HD audio driver using the Device Manager, then I tried the IDT driver but that just shut off my sound entirely. I uninstalled the Nvidia HD driver completely after that but then the system automatically replaced those drivers with drivers from Microsoft and the problem persists. Anyone have any ideas?

First of all, the Nvidia HD audio driver is for the HDMI-Out only. Better reinstall these if you want to have a audio signal over hdmi (its part of the nvidia graphics driver package).

On the cracking sound issue: This Problem could be related to "DPC Latency" and can be checked with this programm DPC Latency Checker . you should let it run in the background in a scenario where the cracking occurs.
If it states that there is a dpc-problem, its related to old/incompatible drivers, especially Ethernet and Wireless-Lan (so check those first).

i screencaps of my network dirvers, i can comfirm that these dont have the problem.
Keep in mind that you could have a diffrent wireless card or even ethernet controller.

Could be the power management settings for the USB turning off power to save battery.

Also check to make sure that you haven't switched on power saving features in the IDT control panel (far right tab)
