I finally got around to hooking up my laptop to my tv and got nothing. The laptop doesn't register the connection. Another laptop works fine. Different HDMI cables, and hooked up to my HT projector also. Absolutely nothing happens.

It's a 6990 with the latest ATI driver, a08 modified to kill the integrated. Is there anything physical to check inside the system apart from reseating the video card which I already have tried?

Without sounding patronising, have you tried holding down the Windows Key + P?

Ha yea of course. It's like the hdmi port doesn't exist and nothing is ever detected on it. I promise I haven't gone full retard.

Can you try and reinstall the motherboard chipset driver.

    :D

You could possibly try re enabling the Integrated Graphics, manually switch to the IGPU and try again? At least so we can prove that it isn't a GPU issue.

Ok thats back on, no dice! Even pulled the dedicated card to be extra sure. Also reinstalled MB chipset, got latest intel drivers and no dice.

Bummer, seems like a dodgy HDMI port. Do you have any warranty? Cant imagine it will be cheap to have it repaired outside of warranty.

One thing that maybe worth a shot is doing a clean uninstall of both GPU drivers and rolling back to the Dell drivers.

I am not trying to insult you. I fiddled with a TV for an embarrassing amount of time once before realizing that I had the HDMI plugged into the right side port on my laptop which is the HDMI input rather than the one of the left where the USB 3.0 ports are. You didn't by chance do that, did you? I only ask because I will feel less silly if I am not the only person who has ever done that. :(

No I didn't use the wrong port (but I do admit getting kind of desperate and trying the IN port during troubleshooting)

I'll check VGA but I am leaning on a bad port. - I still have the shipping image and it doesn't HDMI either. My older r3 showed hdmi out on boot and this doesn't even do that.

And no warranty anymore, no biggy though.

Try the VGA port and if possible try the latest drievrs available on DELL.com and not the AMD ones.

My R3 started doing the same thing, but it's even weirder... HDMI out to my TV? No longer works. My monitor at work? Nothing. If I use HDMI out to my monitor at home though? It works. It's the only monitor that does work. I've tried switching between integrated and dedicated graphics, changing cables, and changing drivers, but no matter what I do, I can't make my HDMI out port work on anything besides my monitor at home. I just don't understand what the heck is going on... I would think if the port was bad, it wouldn't work at all, but yet... Converting display port to HDMI works just fine, but dang it, I want my HDMI out to work again...

Bakkasan, did you ever find any solutions to your problem? Anyone else have some clues?

I had something similar happen. When I first received my R3 the HDMI out worked off the factory install. When I replaced the HDD with a SSD and did a fresh Windows 7 install, the HDMI no longer functioned -- wasn't even detected. Over time I exhausted all troubleshooting steps I could find, used different hdmi cables (at one point I slightly cut the collar of the cable to try and get a little more of the connector into the slot), etc. Right around that time I started to wiggle the connector and next thing you know, it worked.

For a day or two, anytime I wanted to use it I needed to wiggle it and leave it in the right position, then it stopped requiring that and now it connects without any hassle. A bit strange, but there you go.
