I have a lot of little things that really bug me.

1: when I close the lid the keyboard touches the screen. The keyboard is very slightly bended upward.

2: the keys are not entirely straight, the spacing between the keys are okay but not the key itself. They put on the (stickers?) turned to the left/right. Looks really cheap

3: there are 2 markings on my cover (very small) they don't really bother me but still, I paid 2000 euro's for it.

4: when I put in my power cord it makes some kind of electric sound you can always hear it while surfing the internet it's really annoying. (anyone having the same?)

5: furthermore I don't have the dedicated led for the alienhead on the cover which I find absolutely stupid since I don't want to risk putting my laptop in my bag while it is still switched on.

I am not pleased by what dell gave me for 2000 euro's. It is a beast! but I don't find this acceptable because I paid so much for it. Any help on these issues?

Sounds like you got a bad one.

#1 happens to most of them. nothing is gonna change that. it's a poor design. The strips of rubber on the edges of the panel get pushed in.

I just send an email to Alienware presenting my problems. I hope they can come and fix it on the spot, because I cant send it away. I need the laptop :(

if its under warranty, they are obliged to fix to...however the techs that come over aren't very careful. I hope they don't make it worse

Sorry bro, i don't know of software utility that will detect your screen model. Are you running 1920x1080? Alienware likes to use screens from AU Optronics. So if 1080p, its probably AUO159D...some say this is the best screen available on the market today

Yes I have the 1920p screen but there is a LG and AUO version. Whatever I'm happy with the screen

I understand your frustration after paying so much.

You will never get a perfect laptop.

If it plays games and functions well otherwise, I'd ignore it and play

If and when you need a functional repair then Dell can try to fix some of the other nagging items.

I bet you park your can so no one can scratch or ding the doors? ;)

Haha Yes maybe I should. I always have a little "gadget fever". I will look at the options dell is going 2 give me, and decide if it isn't going 2 be 2 much trouble. I dont have a car :p I live in Holland, bike is the way to go here :p

in the event that they are not able to fix the keyboard touching the screen issue. Does anyone recommend a cloth/protective layer that you can put between the screen and the keyboard

I had issue number 4, it was discussed in my thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...got-my-m17x-r3-few-questions.html#post7936684

Basically it came down to the AC adapter being faulty. I called Dell and immediately got it replaced, and the problem was gone.

Regarding issue number 5, I have this too, so do many people. Its pointless to have the LED on only when the screen is on... it serves no purpose and is pointless. There is a thread about this.

    I agree with you entirely.
I didn't used to have it before but after a screen change I now have.
I didn't notice it before nor do I notice it now
I prefer for it to switch off when lid closed anyway.

I think it is the idea that something that should be there ISN'T.

Okay does your adapter make any sound when you put your ear ON it? because it is not loud anymore now and the adapter does make a sound but you can only really hear it when you put your ear ON the adapter. Changing the socket did lower the volume.
