As stated in title, i have the Alienware m17x R3 with GTX 460M, and i cannot run Heroes of Newerth/HoN. It either gives me a K2 Exception error at startup at 9/10 startups, when i do get into HoN and start a game, i can play less than 10min before it bluescreens, with Driver_Power_State_Failure ( 0x9f )

HoN Tech site states that there are known issues with the GTX 3xxM 4xxM 5xxM series, and it is solved by installing the latest nVIDIA driver, 275.33.

I have found several places where there is refered to using a "customized" nvdm.inf file, but when i do that as the guide ( New Nvidia Driver 275.33 WHQL ) referes to i get constant bluescreens after reboot, before i get into Win7.

    Any suggestions?

I'd honestly like not doing alterations on the bios if at all possible

Normal BIOS has those tabs hidden, so you won't be able to get the intel GPU disabled and set the 460m as the primary display without the modded BIOS.

The only modification to the BIOS is to un-hide all the menu items.

Your other option is to wait for dell to release an official 275.xx driver. They may not even be working on one... They didn't release a 270.xx driver (nvidia release in april).

You might have to just use the bios. The 460m has so many optimus issues, its annoying.

Here's my list of games that doesn't work trying to use the Nvidia gpu.

League of Legends(causes blue screen after 10-15min of play)
Dead Space 2(Doesn't even start after activation screen)
Heroes of Newerth(K2 Error and crashes)
Alice: Madness Returns(Black screen, but I can hear the sound)
Diablo 2 + Xpac(No, it was not a compatibility error)

I still have about 20 games I want to install too, so i'll probably update this later.

Just make sure if you do use the mod bios, u follow its instructions VERY clearly.

I have problems running Heroes of Newerth too (spec in sig), I frequently get K2 Exception crashes, every few minutes in fact. I've tried everything on their wiki to no avail. Made a post on their crash forums, but they're not much use, incredibly frustrating.

Tried 275.33 but it made no difference, currently running 275.27 as they're more stable overall.
