So I ordered a r3 a little over a week ago and talked with support and was told that the 3d capable systems have lightboost and come with 3d vision 2 glasses. How can I check to make sure it really has lightboost and that its working properly once it arrives today?

    Hey bus_dr1v3r,

I'm not an owner of an M17 3d, but lightboost is a brand new technology, and I've only seen it on Asus's new 27" monitor. Even Acer's monitor released like 3 months ago doesn't have it yet. So since the m17r3 here was released like 10 months ago, I'd highly doubt it does.

On top of that, I'd expect the Dell Marketing Machine would have added that fancy sticker to the website asap, and yet, nothing:

As for the v2 glasses, I'd doubt that as well, but I'd expect it's only logical once dell uses up its current inventory of v1 stuff, v2 glasses would just naturally fill in the demand. The kit comes from nvidia anyway.

i don't personally own a r3-3d, but I'm about to, and from what i understand, the monitor is "light-boosted", as in its capable of more brightness than the non-3d screen, but I'd doubt it's already lightboost enabled.

Love to be proven wrong though...

First, check and see what type of glasses they sent you? Does it look like these?

My 3D M17x R3 didn't come with 3DVision 2. The display is brighter which was what some may have assumed was lightboost, it isn't.

If you check the hardware ID of the display and if it is LGD02C5 then that's what everyone else has. I have not heard from anywhere that the M17x R3 has a lightboost capable monitor.

I think that your rep probably just mistook a much brighter monitor for lightboost.

Yeah, it turns out they will say anything to get move units. Well, at least I got $100 back. I tried to get a GPU upgrade but no dice.
