Hello, I just got my m17x and it's great. But when i play gta 4 at maxed out settings, my fps drops below 30. If I keep all the other settings at the highest apart from the draw distance, detail distance which are 35/40, and shadow density i get an average of around 40 fps, which drops to around 30/35 sometimes.

What's happening? GTA 4 version is 1.0.4.0 - best for performance or so i heard. Also i have the latest drivers for my 7970m - 12.8.

Is it because GTA 4 is really badly optimized for the pc, and needs raw cpu power? How can i improve my frame rate. The gpu doesn't get hotter than 65C, the cpu likewise. I have the coolermaster notepal u3 cooler.

I played bf3, everything ultra, vsync off, 4XAA and I got around 45 fps on multiplayer on the large busy maps.

On GTA 4 I might also want to install icenhancer and a couple of other graphics mods like virtual iv + realism iv. I would really like to keep the performance over 30 fps with these mods, and don't want it to go any lower.

    Thanks

Have you tried any patch? There is a 1.0.4.0 patch which increase performance and you can gain significant frame rates.

    Download 1.0.4.0
