my mistake all 4 usb ports on the r4 are usb 3(excluding the esata)

its the r3 that has usb 2 on the right hand side

also doesn't mater now as it will have to be external

right have a plan for a mod but it will involve the loss of a usb port

I'm not to sure which ports are usb 3.0 obviously don't want to lose those: could someone tell me for defiant which ones they are

does this still work? if so i don't want to lose the msata port

naturally would rater loose a usb 2.0 port

Not sure what mod you are planning but maybe you can get a mini pci-e to usb adapter if you have a free mini pci-e slot.

thats excellent thank you, will reduce the amount of soldering needed if i can do the mod internally

Its something a friend from works has been bugging me to try and do, as its something hes wanted for ages for his r3 but i kept telling him i didn't think its was possible (not enough room at the back of the chassis) but I've finally given in and going to give it a try or if it wont fit make it attachable to the outside but to me that would defeat the point of the mod
