    I have a alienware m17x r2 does this laptop support 16gb of ram?

    I'm unsure whether it does or not but why do you need it? 4GB is sufficient for some, 8GB for most.

    I wish people would stop saying that without knowing the workload the individual intends.

    Op if it has 4 slots and 4GB sticks work probably. I'd never consider a single 8GB sodimm that would be like $2k for 16GB.

    For 2k, you could get a R3 w/ a decent gpu and upgrade it with ssd and more ram.

    If it has 4slots you can get 16gb for about $300 (maybe less).
