Last Month, my electric bill came out pretty high, I would like to know if the m17x in my sig is a big part of the expense?... 240w power supply, how much kw does the m17x uses a month, left on 24/7 ?

.240 kilowats/hour max. Not that big of an impact by itself.
I didn't notice a real increase using my 1350 watt desktop at 1.35 kw / hr.

I *believe* at idle you are probably less than 75 watts. Can test tonight when I get home and plug into UPS.

Putting it in stealth mode ensures a 65W maximum power usage.

The energy spent is in this context, for some reason, measured in kilowatt hours (kWh), which are a unit of energy (power * time).

So if you have a 240W machine running 24/7 for 30 days, that's:

    0.24 kW * 30 day * 24 hr/day = 172.8 kWh.

That's the theoretical maximum of energy that the computer can spend in 30 days. But it's probably at least a factor of 10 more than it actually uses. Unless it's running benchmarks 24/7 for an entire month.

I ran a test lat night and I maxed at 204 watts playing BC2 in crossfire. Thats the highest I could get it and that was a spike. Normal gaming sits at about 170 watts. After a boot just sitting at the desktop was 68 watts. The stealth button only dropped the at rest (desktop) to 66 watts. I think stealth is more of a cap than a bottom line.
My average use over 3 hours was 144 watts and that included some gaming, web surfing, and creating office documents. With the average cost of electricity in the us being $.12 kWh (its only .08 in OH (- :) , 0.12 * 30 * 24 * .14 = $12.09
My true cost is about $7-8 a month.

thanks getfound, now ... this thing isn't the culprid, could be the fridge... the alienware, if run 24/7 at 240w, should be 15 dollars, but still pretty high, should be doing 70 watts everyday except for a few hours when I'm playing
