    Okay, I have the m17x-r2,
    i7 620m and dual 4870's
    4gb mem
    Windows 7 64-bit ultimate.
using 10.6 64bit mobility catalyst drivers.

So every game i've played has had zero issues, wow even runs great.. except when I turn view distance to full and then shadows to full my fps drops horribly.

I have all the updated drivers I think and was wondering if there is anything I am doing wrong? I'm pretty sure its the processor, wow does not seem to be graphically intense at all.

Any ideas or suggestions would be fantastic. I am willing to try anything

    just add
    SET timingMethod "85"
    to your config. file

or "255" you may have to go through some forums but the timings is what causes the stuttering.

some of the blue posts said

    SET timingMethod "2"
    SET M2Faster "3"
    SET gxTextureCacheSize "512"
    SET processAffinityMask "85"

    adding these should help.

I can't play full shadows with my 720 and CF5870s. Try half shadows instead. Shadows in that game kill FPS, I'm not sure there's any laptop right now that Can max it out without dipping into the 20s in RAID's or Dal

It wont fix the issues, the horrible coding the devs of WoW did when updating it for shadows is the problem. It's just too poorly written to run well on any machine other than the most powerful desktops at present.
Take some advice, leave shadows off and just leave the others at max.

See my desktop system 1 down there? Max shadows = 30-35 fps. That's on a desktop 920 and TWO 5870s. The game coding is insanely out of date and poorly optimized by today's standards.

Wow Catalyst mobility 10.6 doesn't work on dual 4870's! Sounds like a good question for the Catalyst Marketing gurus. AAAAAUUUUUUUOOWWWHHnomnomnom

Yea the max shadows will kill wow.. I run the game with shadows 1-2 notches above the lowest setting and it still looks good and performs well.

View distance has always been maxed for me.. well until the 3.3.5 patch where the game is consuming to much memory now for 64bit os's and now when you are in dal, flying over big areas like dragonblight and the game crashes critically with no storage space avail.. Bliz is aware of it and has official postings about it so in the meantime I have to run view distance at 50% so it doesnt crash when the video uses so much memory and the game isnt allocated for it.
