I just finished installing and configging Windows 8 as I want, and just decided to buy a 940XM (got a great deal on an OEM) to unleash my R2 after all I've read about it should be a wicked combo with my 7970m.

Can I just plug it in and go, or should I really reinstall windows for best performance (might miss some drivers, or stuff windows installs when running the setup initially?)?
I'm obviously not looking forward to reinstalling everything again, but I want the best performance on the other hand, so I will if I have to.

Also looking for al little noob guide on throttlestop and everything I should do with my XM

No need for a OS re-install. Windows should detect new hardware and make any changes that are required automatically after initial boot with the new chip. Follow any on screen instructions and you should be fine. Might wanna make sure you have the most up to date Bios before upgrading, but otherwise, it's pretty much plug and play from my understanding of it.

If you want to have a read up on using TS, here's a good thread, quite aptly named too ;): http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...arket-upgrades/531329-throttlestop-guide.html

No problemo! - good luck with it, have fun with the new XM

PS: I'd remove the battery and perform a power drain (hold down power button for 30 seconds or so with the battery out) before doing the install work, and also use an anti-static wristband/mat when handling the cpu - just precautionary really, you don't wanna fry your new chip.
