I have just installed some new HyperX ram, but sysinfo only shows that it's running at 667 Mhz, not the 800 I would expect!! Why?

    Module Size: 4096 MBytes
    Memory Type: DDR3 SDRAM
    Module Type: SO-DIMM
    Memory Speed: 666.7 MHz (PC3-10600)
    Module Manufacturer: Kingston
    Module Part Number: 9905428-064.A00LF

Can't find a mem tweak option in the bios either :(

Do you have the Modded 08 bios ?
In the overclocking option you can override your memory settings.

you should be able to choose XMP2 via the stock bios, this should solve your issues.

if not, you have to download and install the modded A08 bios

I have the A09 bios, not the modified A08, surely 1600 speed ram should be auto-detected, Dell even sells 1600 ram for this.

Have I got a duff batch, or does this ram not auto negotiate it's speed?

it is autodetected in A08...and i assume that's the same for A09

its your hyperx that's being stubborn. What is the Cas? i know the default 1600 ram that dell sells is cas 11, so if you put in cas 9, your system might not know what to do with it and defaults it to 1333 ram.

Do you have XMP options in the A09 bios? Can you choose XMP2?

    Thanks Slickdude,

Found the performance options and set XMP2, no change so told it not to auto the speed and set 1600.

HWinfo64 still reports 667 but CPU-Z reports 797.4, not quite 800 but near.

    Thanks :)

Set bclk to 10019 in your bios and the ram will read 800mhz. Dell sets an ever so slight under clock from the factory.n

You can offset that by following a small thing from the Tips guide in my sig. It allows accurate 100Mhz without any offsetting. Also if your ram had blue heatspreaders, no bios will auto detect it. You must set XMP Profile 2. It's always like that.

I set the BCLK higher so it now reports 100.1 Mhz, a very very slight OC, and yes the ram has the blue heat spreaders.

I've also done your 580m rom hack Widezu :)

Thanks for the update and the info.
