    Hi,

Does anyone know if Alienware disabled SRT in the m17xR3? I suppose it's some bit in the BIOS.

See Intel's response at this thread, Smart Response Technology and HM67 chipset

Did anyone ever try an SRT setup successfully with an Alienware laptop? I think Dell does offer such a default setup with the m17xR4.

It is an available option on the newest laptops with the mSATA SSD. Not validated for the R3 though.

Ok. Do you know if something is needed in the BIOS for SSD caching to work, and if so, could it be enabled in a further BIOS update? Technically everything should work on the R3.

The R3 has an HM67 chipset, which according to Intel RST's help file in version 11.6.0.1030, is supported.

BIOS is set to RAID mode (this is the default that comes with each R3, even with a single drive).

And I added an SSD, which is seen and works as a standalone drive.

Unfortunately, there's no "Accelerate" button showing up in Intel's RST software. I'm trying to find out why. Intel says "the computer manufacturer may have disabled that feature when they built the computer. I recommend contacting DELL in order to check with them if they disabled SMART Response Technology in that computer model or not".
