    I need a cooler for my M17xR3.
I had a U2 that my friend took to use with his PS3 because he thought it was overheating a few months ago.
Can/has someone here tested how well an M17xR3 fits on it, and if the fans can be moved to line up with the two bottom vents?
Want to know because if it works well I'll just pick it up from him, if it doesn't work well I'll buy a U3 (or something else).
    Thanks guys!

I was always under the impression the U2 was the same as the U3, but with just 2 fans.

The U3 works great on the R3, and you can move the fans anywhere. Look up the specs for the U2 and compare the the U3 (dimensions). If they're close, it'll fit.

    U2 : 343 x 266
    U3 : 420 x 320
Oh well I'll pick it up and see how it fits.

I've got the U3 and It fits my R2 like a dream :D Only negative about it is that the fans don't seem to fit far enough back to sit under the fans when it's positioned correctly...thus I have to scooch the machine about an inch down to make it work. :p Fits fine either way and seems to really help out with the temps too. :D It works better if you're overheating just so you know. Don't expect this dramatic decrease in temps if you're just propping up the back end...

However, the U3 is probably your best bet. ;)

No one knows the answer to my actual question, though?
If the U2 works? The point here is to save money, guys, because I already bought a U2 but my friend borrowed it. I don't have a lot of money to go buy a $30 laptop cooler right now :p

The bottom vent is used for air intake while the fans seem to blow the air downward, will you have to inverse the fans?

Yes, but they can't be inversed...
But on M17x the bottom fans are intake so this shouldnt matter.
