    Hello,
I have a LG 29ea93 ips wide screen monitor with 2560x1080 resolution.
How do i get my Alienware M17xR4 to work with my LG at 2560 x 1080. I can only get 1920 x 1200 with HDMI, is the max of this HDMI output ?
Would it work with a mini displayport to displayport cable?
    I found this in a other forum,..HDMI can support 1920 x 1200 and Display port can get a resolution of 2560 x 1600.
    Thanks and regards.

You need mini displayport to displayport (if your monitor accepts) otherwise you need a mini displayport to DVI dual link I think.

I have heard problems with HDMI across all brands of notebook, displayport (with or without an adapter) seems to be the way to go.

Be aware to go beyond 1920x1080 it needs to be an active adapter if you are going to HDMI or DVI (dual link too for dvi).

Meaker is right, the active adapter is needed. They are actually higher in price but it's the best one you can get and will definitely solve the issue.

    Thanks Luis and Meaker.
I ordered a mini displayport to displayport cable on ebay, probably for monday.
If that doesn't solve the problem, i will buy a active adapter.
In the box is also a DVI Dual-Link cable, but i cant use that on the m17x.
