I used to get those temps on my system before repasting.
Considering you're getting normal temps on the 4870m, the issue might be with the thermal pads.
Are you using 1mm or 0,5mm pads ? Also, did you try the retention mod ?

Also, what you could do is to re-paste your cards (With cooling-paste, i experienced that mines were pretty ready for an re-paste.). I did so, and the temp droppet 10-15 degrees celcius. While you're at that, you should also clean out your fans from dust. (This will generate better airflow which again, will lover the cards temperatures. )

You're running 1mm pads? They're supposed to be .5mm pads. Your 1mm pads might be causing the the heatsink to not sit firmly on the GPU die. I just replaced mine with .5mm FujiPoly pads, and I can't even hit 90C with FurMark and a 800/1100 overclock.

I used to advocate the retention mod, but I'm not really a huge fan of it anymore. Reason being that it puts a slight bend in your card, which over time will stress out traces and components. Not worth it. Get good thermal pads and some AS5, and that is all you need. For some extra compression, you can bend the tabs that the screws sit in up a bit.

If you have premium paste and pads, and your fan/heatsink are clean, you cannot possibly heat the card up enough.
