I've got 2 DVI LCDS. Best to drive one with hdmi->dvi adapter and one with displayport->dvi adapter?

I think that would be the best way to get two digital monitors connected. I am not sure if you can drive two single channel DVI monitors from one Dual Link DVI, it would be nice to be able to run both from the same connector rather than have some sort of octopus solution ...

I'd like to piggyback on this thread:

Would it be possible to connect my external monitor to the R3 and have it display something separate than my R3's monitor? (e.g. I'm playing SC2 on the R3 screen while the external monitor shows my desktop or something else like a youtube video or something)?

In my past experience, you can definitely do this by "Extending" your desktop to the second monitor. The problem is that when you run a game full screen on one monitor or the other, it has to be the active app, switching between that game app and any other app on your extended desktop seems to stop execution of the full screen application (the game).

You can certainly try it out to see what sort of behavior you experience.

Or extend the displays and run the game in windowed mode. Win7 is very good about not loosing performance while windowing games.

How do I "extend" my desktop? Is it just plug n play and I'll automatically have a "giant" monitor? Or do I have to click something somewhere to get both of them to show? Cuz when I've plugged in a projector into the lappy at work, I can click Fn+watever teh F-button is to show on the lappy's screen only; the projector only; or both at same time. Is this something I would be doing with my monitor?
