does anyone else play mafia 2? It doesn't seem to run that great on my R2, dunno if it's the slow SSD 4k bug but I don't get great framerates and it stutters a lot when it loads different sections of town. I had default drivers then upgraded to the newer ones off ati's site but it ran the same. It ran a lot smoother on my desktop, I know desktops are more powerful but I didn't think mafia 2 was so taxing. My desktop is an i7 920 with 4870x2.

Try disabling AA, i found that made a big difference.

Malignant, since you're running on ATI cards, check that PhysX is disabled. Otherwise, 5870s should be able to handle anything else. :)

Yeah physx is definitely off, do the drivers need to be installed though? Anyway I get 50 avg fps when running the benchmark but it just seems something is hindering performance, just doesn't run smoothly.

The game has a memory leak bug. If you play for an extended time, it will lag/stutter a lot, especially while driving. You have to shut the game down and restart it. It's a pain but it works.
